Symptoms & Conditions  SHOULDER PAIN

The shoulder has a wide range and versatile range of motion.  As the most mobile joint in the body, the shoulder is prone to multiple types of injury.  Shoulder pain may originate from the joint itself or from the many muscles, ligaments or tendons that surround it.  Pain may arise from swelling, inflammation, tendon tears as well as from degenerative conditions.  Other causes may include dislocation, fracture, or "frozen shoulder syndrome."  Pain typically worsens with excessive activity or movement of the arm or shoulder.
